Description
Is there really any point in posting to SeeClickFix? Is anyone in local authority actually listening (yes, I know - there are a few aldermen and alderwomen [thanks all - you guys/gals are honestly great for paying attention]). I'm behind the proposal to get together a social media presence for the City of Kingston (Twitter, Facebook, et.al.)

this site works, and does so wonderfully.
the only problem is, the site gets abused by people making tattle tale complaints that are irrelevant. and most likely they are the same ones that call 911 for attention.
i know first had that the police chief, fire chief, dpw head, water dept and many other departments and persons watch and work with this site.

This site works and works well.
This is taken from the proposal that Mike D'Arcy presented to the city Thurs night...
"SeeClickFix:
SeeClickFix.com is a perfect example demonstrating the need for the citizens of Kingston to have a voice. The people of the City of Kingston are telling us that they feel their issues are important through the website SeeClickFix. To date, there are over 230 posts generated by Kingston residents and many have long discussion comments on them. SeeClickFix has been incorporated into the Freeman online website, as well as the KNW site, and is watched by more than a few public officials. Many of these issues are directly related to or local government. "
Here is the rest of it. http://teamdarcyinc.com/kingstonsmmproposal.pdf
I will open a new topic for everyone to discuss and debate.

This site can not be shut down by the City government. That's reason enough to post. Unfortunately, not all have computers. Since Channel 23 is no longer available to the resident of Kingston, any and all forums that allow us to air our concerns are vital.
The poor, the elderly who are not computer saavy are still at a disadvantage. Most have a TV and a phone. Channel 23 allowed them to participate without revealing their identities. I believe that this Administration wanted those voices silenced. They can not silence your voices, thankfully.
Yes, there are those who post what you and I may think are petty and silly. They too are residents. They have as much right to voice their concerns and issues as the rest of us. Respect their right to freedom of speech as much as you value your own rights. If someone uses 911 improperly, they can be charged. If the City doesn't, that's their doing.
There are changes in Kingston because of this site. Not as many as I would like. Still after years of watching residents be dismissed, have elected officials ridicule them in the press, I am grateful to this site and to every concerned person who uses it to remedy the problems that have plagued Kingston for years. Keep up the good work. You are changing Kingston one issue at a time.
